I’ll tell it like it is

I’m not sure when that is possible since a negative times a positive is negative, meaning that a negative is in the problem. Maybe you can give us an example to explain the answer process.

Okay, in a problem such as:

4(4-4) = 16 – 16 = 0.

4 x -4 = -16 because only one of them has a negative sign, therefor it is negative. However, if it’s like:

-4(-4-4) = 16 + 16 = 32.

-4 x -4 = +16 because they are both negative and therefor cancel each other out.

So if the two negative signs are the same, they will cancel out each other out and become positive. If there’s only one negative number, the final product with be negative because it will carry from that one number.
