How would you solve this and with what equation?

A coffee merchant has coffee beans that sell for $9 per pound and $12 per pound. The two types are mixed to create 100lbs of coffee mixture that sells for $11.25 per pound. How many of each type of bean should be used in the mixture?

Total cost = 100 x 11.25 = 1125, and

1125 = 9x + 12(100 – x), where x = lbs of $9 coffee, and 100 – x is the $12 coffee

1125 = -3x + 1200, or 3x = 75, and x = 25

So $9/lb = 25 lbs, and $12/lb = 75 lbs

test this: 9 x 25 + 12 x 75 = 1125, which is $11.25/lb
