How was the collapse of the Roman Empire more Sever in Western Europe than in the Eastern Mediterranean?

I am currently working on a series reaserch problems for my College level high school history class and I was wondering what other people view on this topic though. I have a base of what lead to this but I need some more facts on the subject. Also if you have any reliable refrence sources on the subject please list them in your answer or send them to my email at [email protected]

Thanks Everyone!

– Eastern part of the Empire was wealthy and more plentiful of resources.

This was (perhaps) because East was home for ancient and rich civilizations from time immemorial. In west there were nationalities with few material accomplishments (extensive agricultural estates, large cities).

Anyway Roman Emperors preferred to keep tightly their grip on eastern part : Emperors who “divided” Empire (Diocletianus, Constantinus) took the East for themselves.

– My be most eastern border were sorrounded by other State-entity that formed a sort of buffer against nomadic barbarian inveders

So Eastern Roman Empire survived until 1453 CE

THE WAVES OF BARBARIANS THAT continuously INVADED EUROPE have been continually NORTH OF THE BYZANTINE EMPIRE AND have been pushed with the aid of SUCCEEDING INVADERS TO OVERRUN AND DISPLACE THE WESTERN ROMANS.
