How to tell my parents about bad grades?

Okay so I’m gifted, according to test scores, but I’m having a really hard time in school. I’ve failed every test I took in math and I keep forgeting to hand in my science homework. My mom expects a lot out of me, and I was going to tell her about my grades, which I know will be bad when I get them, but she saw that I got a B- in english on a progress report and freaked out! Now I’m even more afraid than before. Is there any way I can tell her and somehow soften the blow? Thanks.

OK. I think first you need to admit to her that either you’re not trying or something needs to change in the way you approach your school work. I’m taking Organic Chem in college now and a few weeks ago some people received Fs on the first exam. The professor said that for those people, they should change something in their studying habits or in their regular routine with the material.

For your personal situation, I would indeed tell your parents that you’re going to seek extra help and create some type of routine with your teachers. For example, you’ll promise your parents that you’ll meet with your math teacher EVERY week to go over material.

Plus, I think you need to remember that you need to make a serious contribution to your education by putting in the time, effort and mental work. SATs or Standarized are testing thinking skills, however, school tests your ability to know information!

Hope that helps!

P.S. I tutor students in math on AIM if you’re ever interested.

You will have to flat out inform them. Get competent for a punishment. I understand this could appear unfair. Trust me it’s. But, that is how it works. When you inform them you acquired an F inform them you acquired the solutions correct however you forgot to however a interval after them. Also ask the trainer when you might do additional credit score. Or expectantly there will likely be a further experiment. Remember to research that one so that you could A it and can spice up your grade up. Good success!

Your Mother will, without a doubt, freak out. But, be honest with her. Tell her that you have been lax on turning in homework. And you know you should study more. Tell her that you can and will improve. But, mean it when you say it.

Stay out from in front of the TV, and put the video game controller down. Make plans for 2 hours of home work every evening. Don’t procrastinate. Get your work done on time and handed in.

I know this is not what you want to hear, but this is what I would want to hear from my own child. But, most of all, be honest with her.

Tell her that this school year has been really hard for you. You’re taking challenging classes and it’s been really hard to keep up with all the work. Tell her that you know she might be disappointed, but your grades are not all that great right now. You’re trying, but you just can’t seem to make them better. If you want, talk to your counselors about what you should do. See if you can switch to easier classes. Good luck!

face the reality. if your grade is bad, be true to yourself n your mum. Tell her direct. Of course, study harder.
