how to solve: 2x+10=5y-4?

It is a literal equation. I don’t understand what you would do first and then solve the problem.

add the 4 from the left side to the 10 on the right side.

u will get 14.

now your problem will look like 2x + 14= 5y

subtract 5y. now it looks like 2x + 5y + 14= 0.

do u get it? i think thats right and how u are suposed to leave it.

(solving for x)

2x + 10 = 5y – 4

2x + 10 – 10 = 5y – 4 – 10

2x = 5y – 14

2x/2 = [5y – 14]/2

x = [5y/2] -7

(Solving for y)

2x + 10 = 5y – 4

2x + 10 + 4 = 5y – 4 + 4

2x + 14 = 5y

[2x + 14]/5 = 5y/5

[2x/5] + 2.8 = y

y = [2x/5] + 2.8

I’m pretty sure that’s all you can do.
