Well, both. It’s the same as a regular year. Technically, it takes the Earth 364.25 days to revolve around the sun. We schedule it at 365 every year and that is why we have a leap year. The fiscal year is just the year in which businesses track their earnings/spending for tax purposes. There are 365 days in the fiscal year, usually starting on the day of the year they began doing business. The government starts theirs on 4/1 and runs through 3/31.

I worked for a company that usually had 364 days in a fiscal year – there were 4 thirteen week quarters. Every 8 years or so they would add in an extra week which would throw off “comparisons to last year” for two years.

fiscal year uses the same calendar as the rest of us use, it’s just that they can start their spending, and reporting and tax statements just about anytime.

I’m the treasurer of an non-profit. Our fiscal year is July 1 to June 30 and our taxes are filed by September. We don’t have 1/4 days. We DO have leap years.

365 Days. From 1st April to 31st March. Fiscal year won’t follow scientific year.

I think the correct answer should be 365 days for your regular year and 366 days for the leap year.
