How is Martin Luther a Humanist?
I have to write an essay for my AP Euro class and i can’t seem to think of anything backing up Martin Luther as a humanist. I had to read A World Lit Only by Fire. So if you can give me any quotes also that help.

I guess you could say he was a humanist in that he felt the human was worthy enough that he could approach God in prayer directly, without the intervention of a priest. He got that from the Bible, and he wasn’t (!) a secular humanist, but he could be called a humanist that way, I suppose.

Humanism for him meant returning to the original texts of the Bible – Bible Humanism.
