How hard is Geometry Honors?

I took this for one of my classes and I want to know how hard it is and how different it is from regular. Can someon explain what the average Geometry Honors class was like too. Also, I am exceptionally good at Algebra, but the graphs took awhile to learn. Thanks in Advance!!

Well, every class, at every school is different because the teachers teach differently. At my school, I was in geometry honors as a freshmen for the first quarter only. I got my first ever D on a test (a test that actually mattered), and only was able to pass the class with a b- because the teacher gave us points for doing our homework (he only collected it about 5 times for a grade), adn since i almost always did my homework, i got the points. he also gave extra credit after every chapter and on every test. I didn’t drop the class when i could because the stuff we learned in the beginging was pretty basic and i got an a- on that test.

i dropped geometry honors in the second quarter and switched to a regular geometry class. i liked it a lot better, and the teacher actually took the time to help us understand stuff, and let us do group work so that if we didn’t understand it, maybe one o our classmates could explain it in a way i understood. i liked the geometry regular class also because it was much more relaxed and i actually started looking forward to it- it was much more fun. i would not recommend anyone to take geometry honors. on the other hand, my geometry regular teacher, who had some 10th adn even 11th graders in her class, and said she noticed a big difference when they learned proofs (you’ll do quite a few in geometry)- the sophmores were able to understand the proofs much better than the 9th graders. algebra is a lot different (at least to me) than geometry- one really smart girl in our algebra 1 honors in 8th grade had a 116% in algebra- and the teacher told her “you’re good at algebra, so chances are you’re not going to be that good at geometry.” idk if thats true, cuz im not really good at either.

another thing- i really struggled with learning the graphs in algebra, and they kinda jsut refresh your memory in geometry- they expected that we already knew & could easily do the graphs- i got a d- in that chapter.

the difference for me was that in geometry honors, they “flew through” stuff and just expected us to get it- the teacher didn’t really explain it that well. he would teach us the lesson the entire class, then give us the homework in the last 2 minutes of class- no time to ask questions on it, no nothing.

in geometry regular, the teach explained it while having us take notes, then explained it visually, then did examples that went with the lesson that we worked through together as a class, and then gave us at least 15 minutes homework time in which we could ask questions or help others that didn’t understand it.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do!

just remember- always ask questions, and use every resource available to you- some of the kids in my geometry honors class signed up for peer mediation (juniors and seniros who tutor you in whatever subject you need help in), which helped them understand things a lot better.

I had geometry honors for freshman year, and it wasn’t hard at all. Passed with a 97. I never had much homework because I used study hall to finish any geometry hw from that day. If you’re good at math, you’ll probably be good at geometry. It doesn’t hurt to give it a try.

advice giver & needer!
i finished geometry and did great, but unfortunately my classmates didn’t. It may seem hard, but it will be great to have accomplished it. So stick to it, try ur best, get extrat help from friends & teachers when u need it, a. nd keep to it. I think the difference from regular is the explanations and work load. I think Honors is better because they expect you to learn quicker and better than normal people. it all depends on your skill level. I liked the geometry class because it made me think. My teacher explained that algebra and geometry are opposites. algebra is black & white and is all memorizing. however, geometry u have to think a lot and explain. My teacher said that if u are good at one u wont b at the other. but i (& my BFF) proved her wrong. also dont let ppl get to u when they say it is hard and uncool and bad and worthless. one of my friends dropped out of the honors classes bacause she thought it was all those things i listed aove, but then a year l8r she admitted that she wished she didn’t drop down. You will eventually need to learn this, so the sooner the better. Good Luck!!!

it’s like regular geometry class but you move a little faster, more work, and you will learn more stuff than regular students.

Easy. Know your Algebra. Just pay attention. It pays off later in Trigonometry. It’s basically just plugging in numbers to equations and solving for X… whatever it may be.

Geometry is so easy. You will get an easy “A” in your honors class. Good luck!!!

It’s about two parallel lines but they go further.

And uh, 90 degrees is 90 degrees, zero minutes and zero seconds.
