The easiest way to remember is to think of a “percentage” as part of 100%.
Knowing this, move thedecimal point left two spaces for the two zeroes in 100 (making it .176) and then multiply the two numbers.
Thus 385 x .176 = 67.76

17.6% means 17.6/100, which is equivalent to the decimal form of 0.176. Move the decimal two places left because we are multiplying through by 100/100
.176 of 385 = 67.76
To check take 385-67.76 = 317.24 then divide by 385 to get .824
add .824 and .176 = 1 = 100%

When dealing with percents you are always going to be moving two decimal places. Because percent means parts out of 100. So if you forget, always divide by 100 to see where it should be. EX: 17.6 / 100 = .176 (which does move it 2 places)
Now multiply .176 x 385 = 67.76
Good luck!

To change a per cent to a decimal number, move the decimal 2 places to the left. 17.6% = .176. If there are no decimals in the original number, use zeros to indicate the places. 1% = .01, 20% = .2, .005% = .00005, 700% = 7
