how do you interpret this paragraph from the delcaration of independence?

He has abdicated Government here by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us. He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people

What’s to interpret?

The king is responsible for defense of the colonies, but instead of defending our colonies, he has *attacked* them. He’s destroyed ships, laid siege to the ports, vandalized towns, and all of this has been vastly disruptive to the colonials.

Instead of doing his duty, he has refused, therefore making his “kingship” a fiction. If he doesn’t have to act like a proper king, we have no obligation to act like proper subjects of the crown.

The British moved to America to get more land, right? Well, The British in Britain, England have destroyed them, therefore the new Americans are no longer British.
