how do you add whole numbers to fractions?
Favorite Answer
3+1/4=?
you take the fraction and make it as small as you can. (simplify it) since this is already simplified, you combine the 3 and the 1/4.
so 3+1/4=3 1/4.
try this:
19+4/8=
simplify the fraction.
add the fraction to the whole number.
so 4/8 simlified is 1/2.
add that to 19.
so…
19+4/8=19 1/2. got it? if not, email me at [email protected]
2/6 + 4/6 = 6/6 = 1
4/6 + 3/6 = 7/6 = 1 1/6
4/6 + 4/6 = 8/6 = 1 2/6 = 1 1/3
If the numerator ( on the top ) is the same or higher than the denominator ( the bottom ) it will always equal 1 or more.
if you want to make it like this 13/3
you multiply 4 and 3 =12 add 1 = 13 over three
change everything to over 8. -1/8 + 32/8 + 12/8 – 14/8. combine 44/8 -14/8 – 1/8= 29/8 reduce 3 5/8
1.) you need a common denomintor which is 2 cause thats the dnomintaor fro 1/2 so you multiply 7 or 7/1 (same thing) by two, both the top and bottom..that gives you 14/2 so now u hve
1/2 + 14/2 and u keep the denominators the same and get 15/2 and thats ur answer
hope i helped
