How do you add, subtract, divide and multiply percents? For example: Mr. Carson is paid 38,400 a year….?

Mr. Carson is paid 38,400 a year and is paid twice a month. His first deduction is FICA and is 8% of the gross pay. How much is Mr. Carsons FICA deduction per month?

The next is Federal taxes which is 11% of his gross pay.

What is the amount of Mr. Carson’s Federal Tax Withheld per month?

The state the Carsons live in taxes payroll at 3%.

What is the amount of state tax that will be withheld from Mr. Carson’s paycheck per month?

8% = .08

11% = .11

3% = .03

38400 a year devided by 24 because 12 months, twice is 24.

Take that number and multiply it by .08. Take that same number and multiply it by .11. Same number multiplied by .03. Sooooo… 1600 x .08, 1600 x .11, 1600 x .03

you change the percent to a decimal …

11% = 0.11

then you use it as a multiplier …

is this what you meant?
