how do u solve 14 = 2x + 5x + 7?
Favorite Answer
14= 7x + 7 (Add similar terms)
14 – 7 = 7x + 7 – 7 (Subract 7 from both sides.)
7 = 7x
7x/7 = 7/7 (Divide by 7 on both sides)
x = 1
Hope that makes it easy
And if you want to confirm then put 1 in place of x and see if it is right.
14 = 2(1) + 5(1) + 7
14 = 2 + 5 + 7
14 = 14
See it works.
1. Add like terms, so 2x + 5x = 7x
2. Subtract 7 from both sides, so 7x +7 -7 = 14 – 7
2. You will get: 7x = 7
3. Divide 7 to both sides, so 7x/7 = 7/7
4. The answer is: x = 1
2 x 1 + 5 x 1 + 7 = 14
2x+5x=7x
7x+7=14
7x=14-7
7x=7
x=1
14=2x + 5x + 7
14= 7x + 7
14-7 = 7x
7= 7x
x=1
and you can plug your answer which is 1 into x to check that the statement is true.
2(1) + 5(1) + 7 = 14
2 + 5 + 7 = 14
14=14
so therefore your answer is right.
14 = 7x + 7
Subtract 7 from each side to equal =
7 + 7x
Divide each side by seven to equal =
x = 1.
14=7x+7
-7 -7
7=7x
/7 /7
1=x
-7 -7
7 = 2x + 5x
7 = 7x
/7 = /7
1 = x
14=7x + 7
then you subtract 7 on both sides and you get 7x=7. And then divide by 7 on both sides to isolate the x term. That leaves you with x = 1
