How do I write a fraction on my TI-84 Graphing Calculator?

I am having trouble making fractions on my TI-84 Graphing Calculator.

I can do everything and anything, but I cant do fractions.

Does anyone know how to write a fraction with one?

I know you can enter like

4/5

= .8

then hit the “Math” button, and hit Fraction to turn it into a fraction, but I want to be able to just type in the fraction without having to divide then turn it into one.

Thanks.

you can’t really keep it a fraction. TI-84’s only give decimals unless you do the whole, MATH-FRACTION thing. TI-89’s do fractions. if you have a long equation to solve that has a fraction within it, put the fraction in parenthesis. even so, they’ll give you the answer in decimals. then, i guess you can make it into a fraction.

good luck.

Hmm… okey dokey… first I guess you want the decimals as a fraction right? Ok well first heres what you do…

1. type in the decimal… 1/3 would be .3333333 just fill up the first row of the screen with it….

2. hit math

3. then hit enter two times

And wahhh laa! You get 1/3…. but of course if you want to find some thing out like 4/5 you just divide 100 by the denominator and multiply that by the top number…

If you are muliplying something with a fraction in it, just put parenthesis around the fractioned number….

you CAN type fractions in your TI-84. First, press (ALPHA) , then (F1) <- at the top of the calculator keyboard, then press ( 1: n/d ) [numerator / denominator]. there you go!
