Distribute the 2 into the parenthesis, so your answer is:

the answer is 6x +2

your problem is this 2(3x+1) so first you would do distributive property and myltiply everything inside the parenthesis by 2.

so 2(3x+1) becomes

6x +2

what you did was 2 times 3x (which equals 6x) and then multiplied 2 times 1 (which equals 2)

so your answer is 6x +2
