((x – 8) ^2) / 9 + ((y + 3)^2) / 9 = 1
Multiply both sides by 9, which leaves you:
(x – 8) ^2 + (y + 3) ^2 = 9
Now, take the square root of both sides:
(x – 8) + (y + 3) = +/- 3
(Remember, when taking the square root of 9, it is +/- 3)
Solve for y:
(x – 8) + (y + 3) = +/- 3
x – 8 + y + 3 =+/- 3
y = -x + 8 and y = -x + 2
Good luck in your studies,

P.S. – I believe that’s the form your looking for, right?
If not, please add a note to the question. – Thanks.

this is the equation of a circle with a center at (8, -3)
the radius is 3
so when you solve for y you get:
y = -x + 8
y = -x + 2
