Hola Lola!

How do I find the intercepts? (if any) of the following equation:?

wow I know this isn’t a super hard question but I’ve forgotten the basics of algebra: How do I find the intercepts (if any) of the following equation??

Y= (x – 1) / (x – 2)

Thank You so much for all of your help!!! I really appreciate it!

**The only thing i remember is setting y equal to zero– then what?**

To find Y-intercept(s) set Xs to zero and solve. (0-1)/(0-2)=1/2…Y-Intercept equals 1/2. To find X-intercept(s) set y = 0.

0=(x-1)/(x-2) then solve…this is pretty easy just by looking at it. When the numerator is zero the answer will be zero therefore X-intercept =1. So Y-Intercept=1/2 and X intercept =1…by the way there is a vertical asymptote at x=2 since at two Y would equal 1/0 and you can’t divide by zero.

Dont you cancel out the x’s, and then either add the -1 to the -2, if you did this then you would have y= -1 or do you add the 2 to the one and get y= -1 either way you would have the same answer
