How do I figure out how to do this…?

My science homework is to basically do math problems that I can’t understand. You’re supposed to convert the problems to another unit, but that’s what I don’t know how to do. The first problem is “How many grams in a dekagram?”. That’s the only problem I know the answer to, which is 10 grams in a dekagram. It’s the rest of the problems that I don’t understand. I have to show the steps to the answer so I can’t just look the answers up online. Could you help me figure out how to do this?

Problem 2: Convert 4,200 decigrams to grams

Problem 3: How many liters are equivalent to 500 centiliters?

Problem 4: Convert 100 millimeters to meters.

Problem 5: How many milligrams are equivalent to 150 dekagrams?

Problem 6: How many liters are equivalent to o.3 kiloliters?

Problem 7: How many centimeters are in 65 kilometers?

Problem 8: 12 dekagrams are equivalent to how many miligrams?

Problem 9: 720 centiliters is how many liters?

Could you help me?

Well, to just start off, you are basically messing your brain up for no reason at all. Take a deep breath and look at the questions again. It’s not as hard as it looks.

2) 4,200 decigrams to grams. Well, we know that deci means 1/10th of a part, which means that there are 10 decigrams in one gram. So we basically divide 4,200 by 10, and… we get 420. The answer is 420 grams.

3) We know that centi means 1/100th of a part. That means that 100 centiliters make 1 liter. So, to get how many liters there are in 500 centiliters, we divide 500 by 100, and we get… 5 liters. The answer is 5 liters.

4) Milli is the prefix for 1/1000th of a part. Thus, all we have to do to get how many meters there are in so-and-so millimeters, we divide the number of millimeters by 1000. So, divide 100 by 1000, and we get 0.1 meter. The answer is 0.1 meter.

5) This is tricky. We have to do this problem in two parts. So, here we go. First, we change the number of dekagrams into grams, by multiplying the number of dekagrams by 10, which gives us a starting point of 1500 grams for 150 dekagrams. This can now be changed into milligrams; simply multiply 1500 grams by 1000, and we get 1500000 milligrams.

6) Kilo is the prefix for 1000. This means that there are 1000 liters in 1 kiloliter. Thus, we just have to multiply 0.3 kiloliters by 1000, and we get 300. The answer, thus, is 300 liters.

7) This is yet another two part question. We first change 65 kilometers into meters, by multiplying 65 by 1000, giving us a starting point of 65000 meters. This is what we multiply again by 100 (because there are 100 centimeters in one meter) and… we get the answer of 6500000 centimeters.

8) Another two part question!!! First start by converting the dekagrams to grams; 12 dekagrams are 120 grams. This can now be multiplied by 1000 (because there are 1000 milligrams in one gram) , which means that we do 120×1000, giving us an answer of 120000 milligrams.

9) Centi, as I said before, is the prefix for 1/100th of a part; this means that there are 100 centiliters in 1 liter. So, all we have to do is divide 720 by 100, and we get 7.2 The answer, then, is 7.2 liters.

I hope these helped. Good luck in all the rest of your work.

the scale goes from largest to smallest:

kilo

hecto

deka

——–[this line would be the reg. like liters, grams, meters]

deci

centi

milli

so for Problem#1, it would be 420 grams

if your going up [i.e. meters to deka, then you would move the decimal point one to the left each time.]

if your going down [i.e. deci to milli, then you would move the decimal point one to the right each time.
