you can go to easybib.com and this site will do all the work cited for you and it is in MLA format.

you have to cite every document you use whether it be ideas or quotes. as for quotations you must parenthentically cite at the end of each quote.

ex. “the bird flew” (Smith, 34) last name first then pg. number

Good Luck!!!

Hi,

First of all make sure any quotes you make in your essay are exact quotes and put them in quotations This will keep anybody from saying you cheated. Always begin a quote by saying So and so (name the writer of the quote) states in his book(put title of book here) “then place quote here”. now the page number goes here. There are many ways to do this.Another example is So and So (name the writer) agrues in his book(Title of book.) “Then place quote here.” Page number here. This is called a lead in or a prompt. With that said. On the last piece of paper or page of essay you title it in bold print: Works Cited:

Then in the order quotes appear in your essay you should first put the writer’s name

name of book and date published and who pulblished it and copyright. It should look like this:

Works cited:

Shakepeare, William: “Four Great Tragedies”: Hamlet

Edited by Sylvan Barnet Copyright: 1998

Shakespeare, William; “Four Great Tragedies”: King Lear

Edited by Russel Fraser Copyright: 1963, 1998

Then go to the next quote and do the same thing. If the quote comes from the same writer/same book you don’t need to do anything at all. That is if it is one story. If it is a collection of short stories you have to repeat the information only the name of the story will be different, probably so will the other info like editor dates pulblished/copyright. The only thing that will remain the same in a collection of short stories is the over all title. I gave you an example above.

I hope this helped. This type of citation is called M.L.A. if you want to look it up on the web.
