Say the points of a figure are (3,6) (3,12) and (5,12).

Multiply each coordinate by 1/2. Your first point for example would come out (1.5, 3)

you measure intervals on the x and y axes twice as large
so the points would be
(3/2,6/2) (3/2,12/2) and (5/2,12/2)
that is
(3/2,3) (3/2,6) and (5/2,6)
