I think what he is referring to is what the central government in Washington referred to as ” The Indian Problem” the eastern solution was quite simple. Kill all the Indians, that way the white man could move anywhere he wanted to in the west. no Indians, nobody to attack the trains and the settlers. put massive army forces all over the west. when treaties were signed, ignore them, or confine the Indians to a little patch of land and steal the rest to give to the farmers and ranchers

I don’t understand your question. What government are you talking about? Who do you think the conflict involved? There were no problems that pitted North America against settlers — there were settlements that had local problems, but I really can’t figure out what you are asking or what sort of information you think you need. Do you have a timeline, or any specific instances that you would like to share?

You are aware, aren’t you, that there were settlers from England, Spain, France, Portugal, Norway, and Russia during the early years of North American development. Which government did you have in mind?
