If it’s research you can see what organization funded the research. It’s important because certain grouyps have certain outcomes that they want to find in the research so iof there are biases the research may not be accutate. It’s very easy to sway research one way ot the other based on what outcome you want to have. For example, I wouldn’t trust research about abortion or the country’s feelings about gay rights if it were funded by Focus on the Family because I would know that they have certain outcmes they want to find.

It is important to look for biases if you are doing research, because biased information is not accurate. To determine if information is biased or not, look at who did the research or who funded the research. Often times data will be manipulated to show one thing to be true. Another way to tell if information is biased is if they argue for BOTH sides. If the information is biased then one side may conveniently be left out.
