How do you change an equation into an Inequality?

ex: equation y=-x+11 ??

I’m not really sure you can change an equation into an inequality. Because it has an equal sign, it is an equation. And inequiality, by definition, does not have an equal sign, but a greater than or less than sign.

Hi Princess. If you change one side of the equation you will have made it not equal the other side. You will have made the equation an inequality.

The only way I could think of is to change the variable part of the equation i.e. y < -x + 12 (note: in essence you are adding one to the right side of the equation). However, this is not standard practice and I have no idea why you would be asked to do this.......
