Honors English II Study Guide Help?

ok, I have questions I must be prepared to answer in the form of 1 page essays, due tomorrow. The topic I will have is one of the following for both books:

A Tale of Two Cities

1. Compare and contrast the characters of Mr. Lorry and Miss Pross.

2. What is the relationship between the Evermonde family, Madame Defarge, Dr. Manette, and Charles and Lucie Darnay? What single past event connects these figures?

3. Choose two characters from the novel who displayed great courage in protecting others at the risk of their own lives in the face of danger (Miss Pross, and Sidney Carton, that’s easy). Describe the event(s) and explain why you chose each character and this particular situation.

4. Select two characters from the novel who sought revenge for the wrongs done to them. (Madame Defarge and Gaspard). Describe the event(s) concerning therevenge that took place or was attempted.

#2 is in the Wikipedia entry for Mme Defarge.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madame_Defarge

After reading this, #4 for her will be easy.

Gaspard is a peasant whose child is run over by the carriage of the Marquis St. Evremonde, who uncaringly flips a coin out the window for the trouble. The carriage driver is more worried if the horse is hurt than the child. Gaspard then hides on the carriage as it returns to the castle, sneaks into the Marquis’ room, and stabs him.

Okay, I’m going to be no help. I was all revved to offer up some good advice, until I realized I’ve never read either of those books.

Sad, considering I’m a senior English major and I’ve been taking college English classes for eight years.

Looks like I need a study guide, too.

Sorry.

…but good luck!

Write down answers to the questions (incomplete sentences) so that you know what you would talk about in the essay. Then keep it handy as you write the essays so that you know what to write.

Good luck!

I hope you didnt actually expect someone to write the answers to these questions… Go to www.sparknotes.com they usually have good topics that you can pick up hints from.
