Homework help pls urgent?

i need help. you have to write and algebraic model:

A car travels at an average speed of 45 miles per hour for 8 miles, reduces its speed by 15 miles per hour for the next 4 miles, and then returns to a speed of 45 miles per hour. how long does the car travel at the reduced speed. CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN PLS ?

Distance traveled = (Rate of speed) x (Time) or D=R*T

You need to know the Time “T” (“how long does the car travel at the reduced speed). What do you know out of the equation above based on the word problem?

“reduces its speed by 15 miles per hour for the next 4 miles”

*From this you know that the distance “D” traveled is 4 miles.

*Now in order to solve the equation for the time, you will need to know the rate of speed “R”.

“A car travels at an average speed of 45 miles per hour …, then reduces its speed by 15 miles per hour”

Reduced speed is equal to 45mph – 15mph, or 30 mph.

Now go back to the original equation.

D=R*T

4 miles = 30 mph * T

4 / 30 = T

So, T = 4/30 of an hour.

4/30 hr x 60min/hr = 8 minutes

Captain Pimpstache is right here to help! 17.) (x^2 – 3x + 2) = (x – 2)(x – a million), so your x-intercepts are (2, 0) and (a million, 0). 18.) (x^2 – a million) = (x + a million)(x – a million), so your x-intercepts are (-a million, 0) and (a million, 0). 19.) x^2 – 2x + a million = (x – a million)^2 = 0, so there is one answer x = a million 20.) x^2 + 3 has no real suggestions because of the fact x^2 + 3 >= 3 for all real x. Phew! i’m hoping this helps females.
