The flashlight stands for the sun and the tennis ball stands for the Earth. It shows how the sun can only give light to one side of the Earth at a time. No matter where you shine the flashlight on the tennis ball, only will be lit up on half of the tennis ball and the other half is dark. Try it…it really works, trust me.

Hope I helped!

The tennis balls is supposed to represent the earth and the flashlight is supposed to represent the sun. When you turn on the flashlight and hit one side of the tennis ball the other half of it is in the dark so that is supposed to mean the dark side is night time and the side where the light hits the ball is daylight.
