Help with solving this function please?

Evaluate the function at the given value of the independent variable. Simplify the results. I AM MUCH MORE INTERESTED IN HOW TO GET THE ANSWER, THEN MERELY GETTING THE RIGHT ANSWER.

f(x) = 1/sqrt(x)

Find:

[f(x) – f(2)] / (x-2)

Wherever you see f(x), put the whole function there. Wherever you see f of a number, you plug that number into the function. So:

[(1/sqrt(x))-(1/sqrt(2))]

——————————

(x-2)

Multiply the fraction by (sqrt(x)sqrt(2))/(sqrt(x)sqrt(2)) and you’ll get:

[sqrt(2)-sqrt(x)]

———————

(sqrt(2x)(x-2))
