1.) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nitrogen_cycle

Processes of the Nitrogen cycle:

1.) Nitrogen fixation

2.) Conversion of N2

3.) Assimilation

4.) Ammonification

5.) Nitrification

6.) Denitrification

7.) Anaerobic ammonium oxidation

2.) The ecosystem is a very fragile system. Human beings have witnessed this when they affect it with things such as oil spills or hunting so much that it puts an animal on the endangered species list. Population determines the relationships in the ecosystem because the number of creatures affects the food chain, which basically determines everything. Pop. size can mess with the greenery in an ecosystem and the carnivorous animals that live there. The bigger the population, the bigger the ecosystem must be to provide for all those creatures. It has to have more plants so it can supply energy and food to the herbivores, who supply food and energy to the carnivores, and so forth.

Not sure on the first one, but the second question is about balance….each population has a role and when the size is changed drastrically, either too small or too big, it causes a rippling effect, making other populations in the same ecosystem unbalanced. Go to google and type in “an example of population size in ecosystem” and you should have quite a few examples if you need them to finish your assignment. Don’t forget to cite your material if you are writing a paper!
