ok so say you have the expression:
8√27
What are the steps you have to take to solve it. Please explain so that I can learn how to do it! Is it the same for negatives?

What do you mean by “solve it” — it is an expression, not an equation.
Do you want to simplify it? If so, then I suspect they want you to realize that 27 = 3^3 — so you could write it as 8√(3^3) = 8√(3^2)*√3 = 8*3*√3=24√3
It does not work the same for negatives, because the square root of a negative number is not defined in the real number system.
