I don’t know either, but you could start with an exploration of the depiction (and confusion) of gender over the years in Aussie comedy. Look at things like: Dame Edna, Aunty Jack, Alvin Purple, kath and kim, Crocodile Dundee, Muriel’s Wedding, Priscilla, Bazza McKenzie etc (maybe Google them with the term ‘femininity’ or ‘sexuality’ or ‘masculinity’ or ‘identity’ attached)
Look for basic patterns that emerge. What points does Australian comedy make re traditional stereotypes of the genders? Does it reinforce established constructs, or does it undermine them? Does it produce constructs of its own?
