HELP! The variables x and y vary directly. Write an equation that relates x and y. Then find y when x = 12?

If they vary directly their ratio is constant. So in #1, x/y = 4/8; cross multiply 4y = 8x; divide by 4: y = 2x. Then plug in 12 for x to get y
