good start!

5-x-2=3+4x+5

5-5x-2=3+5

let’s add the 3+5

5-5x-2=8

let’s add +2 to both sides

5-5x-2+2=8+2

5-5x=10

now let’s subtract 5 from both sides

(5-5)-5x=10-5

-5x=5

x=-1

You need to combine like terms first

So, 5-x-2=3+4x+5

on the left side, 5 and negative 2 can be combined

5-2=3

3-x=3+4x+5

on the right side, 3 and 5 can be combined because they have no variable attached to them

3-x=8+4x

next, get the x’s together

add the single x from the left to the right

3=8+5x

next, get single numbers together

you need to subtract the 8, not the 3, because the 3 is alone

3-8=-5

-5=5x

divide both sides by 5

-1=x

5-x-2=3+4x+5

(subtract 4x from both sides)

5-5x-2=8

(subtract 3 from both sides)

-5x=5

(divide both sides by -5 to get x by itself)

x=-1

hope it helps!
