1. When the sun is at its highest angle, the earth is exposed to the most radiated heat. However, I think the warmest part of the day is more a function of the retained heat in the earth. It’s always warmer in the afternoon due to the heat absorbed by the earth. I’ll guess false on that one.

2. Sea level atmospheric pressure is about 14.7 psia. On Mount Everest (at 29,000 feet), the pressure drops to 8 psia (roughly). Do you fly? Think about why they have to pressurize the cabin. Or… have you ever driven up a mountain and had to yawn to hear correctly? Air pressure certainly does change with altitude.

3. In equal amounts, it takes more energy to heat up a pound of earth than a pound of water. So… water warms more quickly than land.

4. The Gulf Stream is a warm current that flows (mostly) south to north. I spent a lot of time in Scotland place, which was at the same approximate latitude as Anchorage, Alaska. The Gulf Stream current is responsible for that region’s warmth… even in the dead of winter, it rains.
