Help me with ms.word-footnotes, please!?

Hi, all. I am having problem with ms.word. I am working on a project from my Professor about some research and doing it with ms.word. There are about 200 pages by now. Everything was alright at first, after I got it back from the Professor (for having been checked/edited), this problem started to show up.

The footnotes that I have been using in the research paper becomes scrambled. They used to be fine, but when I try to add footnotes in between the existing ones, they don’t want to automatically change the order in a good one. Could anyone help me with this?

Any troubleshooting is welcomed, and any suggestion is much appreciated.

P.S.

– I don’t have the original copy (before I gave it to my Professor); it’s stupid of me, isn’t it?

– I have not been Tracking Changes.

– Both the Prof and me are using the same version of ms.word–2003.
