Actually no. The place of publication is the place where the publisher of the book says they are located. The actual printing of the book could be done somewhere else. A book’s CIP (cataloging in publication) data will usually tell you the place of publication. It is typically located very near the front of the book. Otherwise you should be able to find very easily the address of the publisher as publishers want you to have that information.
