Not all garbage can be used for this, only organic matter.

Organic garbage such as banana peels, potato peels, apple cores, and leftovers of beans or vegetables and grains go through the “fermentation” process when they rot.

They are considered garbage. Right?

There are 2 byproducts of fermentation.

One is carbon dioxide and the other is alcohol.

Fermentation is how we get alcoholic beverages like beer or wine.

It is possible to strengthen the alcohol caused by fermentation by another process called “distillation”.

We get stronger alcoholic beverages from “distilling” fermented products and the results are whiskey, vodka, gin, etc.

If you distill it even more, or “refine” it, you will produce a highly flammable liquid.

The processes of fermentation, distillation, and refining is how “ethanol” is produced. Ethanol is a very flammable liquid made from fermenting and distilling corn.

Ethanol is sometimes added to gasoline in the USA.

Many gasoline pumps may have a sign with a disclaimer saying, “This product may contain up to 10% ethanol”.

So using fermentation and distillation, you can produce ethanol which is a type of fuel

The organic waste from most kitchens can be fermented and distilled into fuel.

I gave you the basic idea. Now it is up to you to research it and write your own report.

You can look up the words at http://wikipedia.com or do a search on-line for more information.

Fermentation

Distillation

Refine or refinery

Good Luck

I understand that the organic garbage is stored in sealed containers.

The resultant methane gas that is produced by the fermentation process (caused by the bacteria in the garbage breeding, the garbage breaking down etc) is extracted off.

This gas can be used as is or further refined into other products.
