1-area—-11,700,000 square miles (actually, 11, 688,545)

2-this is always changing because of revolutions, power grabs, etc, but at the present time there are about 52 different countries on the continent, though there may really be more

3—there are over 1000 different languages spoken in the various countries. some of the more prevalent are English (British version) and french, because of the European colonial control of most of the continent for so many years, which caused the various countries to adopt those languages when they finally won or were granted their freedom. Afrikaans and German are also used frequently for a list see

Africa, second-largest of the Earth’s seven continents – covering about 30,330,000 sq km (11,699,000 sq mi), which makes up about 22 per cent of the world’s total land area.

(Africa could hold the land occupied by China, India, Europe, Argentina, New Zealand and the continental United States, with room to spare!)

Africa is divided into over 40 different countries

(Algeria,Angola,Benin,Botswana,Burkina Faso,Burundi,Cameroon,Cenral African Republic,Chad,Congo (formerly Zaire),Djibouti,Egypt,EquatorialGuinea,Eritrea,Ethiopia,Gabon,Gambia,Ghana,Guinea-Bissau, Ivory coast,Kenya,Lesotho,Liberia,Libya,Malawi,Mali,Mauritania,Morocco,Mozambique,Namibia,Niger,Nigeria,Republic of the Congo,Rwanda,South Africa,Sierra Leone,Senegal,Somalia,Sudan,Swaziland,Tanzania,Togo,Tunisia,Uganda,Zambia,Zimbabwe)

As of 1993, African people used more than 800 languages and regional varieties of a language, or dialects.

But only 10 or so of those languages are spoken by cultural groups of more than a million people.

There are too many to quote. i can jus name few.

swazi, tonga, lunda, chewaz, beja, arab, teda, egyptian, Dinka, fang, mongo, kuba, etc..

i hope this is sufficient enough..
