help engligh 102?
“when you write an explication of a short story you do a close reading of a work or a portion of work carfully analyzing its elements. for example, you organize your material in an explication, you should proceed systematically. if you are focusing on a single element, analyze its importance in once section of work at a time. If you are analyzing several elements, consider each plot, setting, point of veiw and so on, in turn. You will probaly choose to group the less significant elements together or section of your paper and then devote several paragraphs too one particulary important element, carefully considering how symbols for example shed light on the work. for each statement you discuss, you will give examples from the work you are explicating, quoting words, phrases and passages that illustrate each point you are making about the work.”
what does this mean, can someone please help, ive been busting my brain, about this. the paper im explicating is the secret lion. plz help

Also, ask your instructor/professor to explain the assignment when you do not understand it.

This is what im interpreting the directions are, so pay attention!!
–First, you are going to read the story carefully. Take consideration of the symbolism, characters and their actions.
–Next, analyze. Youare basically going to take short hand notes of what’s important that you just read. Anything signifigant. Pretty much what you are doing the first time. lol
–You may short hand your notes accordingly, such as in groups. It would be like writing a line in the middle of the paper, and on one side, writing “signifigant elements’ and the other “supportive elements.” Supportive ones are those you dont consider too important to the story; they just help enhance the story’s character.
–Consider writing about either of the groups which you’ve shorthanded, or pick through the list of things you’ve chosen for each. for Example:
Story: Where’s Waldo?
Signifigant Elements Not-So Important Elements
– He’s lost. -He has a friend Bob.
-He’s wearing red. -He ate cheese.
-He’s in Chicago. -He’s behind in child support.
Either I can write seven paragraphs about how he is lost and this made the story stand out, or I can vary between the six choices in those seven paragraphs.
BE SURE to quote page numbers and passages. Instructors love this since it shows that you were interested, and you devoted time to be considerate of the author’s subliminals. (i.e., symbolism, character’s attitude, etc.) Keep in mind that each symbol leads to different paths through the book, but they all conclude some way.
Sure hope this helps!!!
You need to get with your teacher and have him or her explain it to you in a manner that you can understand and apply.
What we might tell you could well be much more complicated than your teacher intends….
