I thought that basically he had the ideal life for the most part, I realize he didn’t have a perfect childhood no one does, what I do realize is that he made the most of it and followed his dreams. Hajime does what most shouldn’t do without a great deal of insight and he follows through with a previous flame, which probably could ruin his marriage, except obviously he really must have felt something for her and his flame has secrets of her own which I found to be interesting, although unrevealed. I thought her life as a rich “play-girl” involved more to it than was written. . .maybe it is too obvious for me and I just go for the romantic notion of his and her lifestyle. Hajime wouldn’t have done anything extremely stupid to harm his wife, and that much is obvious to me. The opposite is true. Hajime has what a lot of people seem to suffer from, that is he had to work at figuring out love actually. I’m not sure his wife or his lover do not have a similar affliction. He was truly tormented by the fact that he was separated from his childhood sweetheart and as a single child and proud Japanese person this is pretty obvious to me.
