As in chemistry, mixtures are two or more different types of atoms put together, but not chemically bonded. If it is chemically bonded, it’s a compound.
Example of mixture:
Air – it’s a mixture because it contains different types of gas which are not chemically bonded together and is not in a set amount.
Air is an obvious one, sorry I can’t think of another. Hope it helps.

When I was little I used to spend my pocket on dolly mixtures – I didn’t find they needed explanations!
More seriously, you can get mixtures and compounds of anything from words to chemicals.
A mixture of a word will have more than one concept or thought. e.g ‘crossword’.
A mixture of chemicals could lead to an explosion! – would depend on the chemicals and their reactions to one another.
e.g. magnesium and water
