Geography primary factor in shaping the development of the British colonies in the 1600s?

ok so i have this essay where i have to talk about the topic above i dont know how to elaborate it so it will come out to be 2 pages. all i have is That while geography played a role, other factors (i.e. different motivations for migrating to the colonies, religion, or whatever) played an equal or stronger role<<<< n i need to elaborate that please help
