Dill wasn’t born and raised there. He had a perspective that Scout couldn’t have because Maycomb was all she knew.

*have not read in a while* but i believe the part would be during the trial where dill is crying and scout dad ask scout to bring him outside this shows he knows what is happening not sure the context exactly jsut find the chapter
