set y as y=x-4, substitute 2x-y=2 with y=x-4

2x-(x-4)=2, multiply 2x – x +4 =2 ,combine like terms

x+4=2,subtract 4

x=-2 substitude x=-2 on the other equation

y=-2-4 so why equals -6

y=-6 x=-2!

tada!!

Are these two separate problems?

Well, to find the x-intercept, substitute 0 for y and solve for x.

To find the y-intercept, substitute 0 for x and solve for y.

Those rules always work, no matter what your equation is.
