How do you write in mathetical terms ” 3 and 3 quarter inch”?

I need it like a fraction and also as a decimal. (I’m terrible at math)

Thanks!

In fractions, it’s 3 3/4″, and in decimals, it’s 3.75″. =)

It`s difficult to write correctly on here, and the two answers already given are correct. I would add that the “3” which represents the units figure is the same size as the 3 over 4 which represents the fractional part. We have to write it on here though as 3 3/4.

To turn a fraction into a decimal, you divide the top number,

{called the numerator}, by the bottom number{called the denominator}:

4]3.000

0.75

Try doing this with 1/2, which is 0.5 as a decimal,

1/4, which is 0.25

3/5, which is 0.6.

Now try working out 4/5, 1/8, and 5/8 on your own. Hope this helps, Twiggy.
