Factor Polynomials?
The idea in factoring polynomials is taking out the GCF correct?
So in the problems 45x^2+21x-6x, I would just take out the GCF as well with x^2+x-72?

Not really. What you want to do is reduce the expression to its simplest form. There is a common factor in the first expression, but not in the second.
45x^2 + 21x -6x can first be reduced to 45x^2+15x. Then you can factor the x terms, and it becomes 15x(3x+1).
In the second problem, you don’t have a common factor in the same sense, but you can reduce it to a simpler form — factor it. 9*8=72, so the term factors to (x+9)(x-8).
