eliminating fractions…LCD?

okay i know this is really elementary but i forgot all math this summer…! i know you eliminate fractions using a least common denominator…but i just got stuck! i know the answer but how do i get there

[(1/a)+(1/b)]/(a+b)

so i n case you didnt get that its 1 over a plus1 over b all over a plus b

i feel so stupid because my teacher said well of course you should know this and i was like well ya of course and then i did it and i got it wrong… =[ hellp!

okay, so the lcd becomes ab, and you have

[a+b/ab]/a+b

then when you’re dividing with fractions, it’s the same as multiplying by 1 over whatever, right???

re-writing, you get

[(a+b)/ab] x 1/(a+b)

then when you multiply it out, the (a+b)’s cancel, which leaves

1/ab

I think that’s got it.
