Okay, basically you wanna get y separated from the pack. The first thing you do is subtract x from both sides which gives you:

-3y = 6 – x

then you divide(or multiply) all sides by -1 which gives 3y = -6 + x which looks nicer written as: 3y = x – 6, and finally you divide through by 3 to give you your answer which is: y = x/3 – 2.

Hope you understand my workings.

x – 3y = 6

-you need the y to be placed at the left side of the equation and the rest at the right side

-3y = -x + 6

-you can see that the y has still a coefficient, and still negative sign. You must eliminate those to make the equation in slope-intercept form or y = mx + b

(-1/3) -3y = -x + 6 (-1/3)

-you can eliminate the coefficient and the negative sign of the ”y” by multiplying both sides of the equation by -1/3 or you can just simply divide both sides of the equation by -3. Anyway, both of them has the same result.

-after simplifying the equation, the final answer is:

y = 1/3x – 2

Therefore, x – 3y = 6, if changed to the slope-intercept form (y = mx + b), will result to y = 1/3x – 2 (it can also be: y = x/3 – 2)

y = mx + b

So its obvious that the ‘y’ unknown has to stay put. So you bring everything without ‘y’ to the other side.

x – 3y = 6

-3y = 6 – x

y = 6/3 – x/3

y = -x/3 + 2

Therefore m = -1/3, b =2.

y= (x-6)/3

y=(x/3) – 2

3y – 2x =6 —-> y = 2/3 x – 2 ——> x^2 +( 2/3 x -2 ) ^2 = 25 —-> x^2 + 4/9 x^2 + 4 -8/3x = 25 —-> 13/9 x^2 -8/3 x -21 =0 ——-> x1 = (4/3+ 17/3)/ 13/9 = sixty 3/13 , x2 = (4/3-17/3 ) / 13/9 = -3 if x1= sixty 3/13 —-> y = 2/3 * sixty 3/13 -2 = sixteen/13 if x2 = -3 ——->y = 2/3 * (-3) -2 = -4

x – 3y = 6

x – 6 = 3y

y = x – 6 / 3
