Does anyone know of an antithesis in The Pearl by John Steinbeck?

Also, does anyone know of any examples of irony in the novel as well?

Here’s a hint to get your started on some irony:

Think of the pearl itself—in its original environment and then into man’s environment. Look at the way it is described in its original environment (particularly at the end when it is returned may give a good clue) and how it is described in other parts of the story when it is with man. Think about what the pearl means to Kino and Juana when they first find it and then what it turns out to be.
