Density…?

Need help.

A sample of metal that has a density of 10.5 g/cm3, the volume of the mertal is found the be 3.3 mL. Calculate the mass of the sample.

I think that the answer is 34.65. is it right?

Calculate the volume of a small box that has the following measurements: 16.0 cm, 29.6 cm, and 6 cm. Express your answer in the correct number of sig figs.

is the answer 2041.6?

First question:

Mass = Volume * density = 3.3 mL * 10.5 g/mL (mL & cm3 are equal). So the answer is correct at 34.65 grams. Important to note that with significant figures you can only have 2 significant figures since 3.3 only has two significant figures so the real answer is 35 grams.

Second answer.

I get 2841.6 cm3, not 2041.6 cm3. I’m not sure what you did but you just multiply the three. In sig figs this would only be 3000 cm3 since you only have 1 sig fig.

Following MKS standard, however you would have to convert that to m3 but I’m not sure you need to do that for this question.
