Density, Mass, and Volume????? CHEMISTRY?
1) A flask that weighs 345.8 g is filled with 225 mL of carbon tetrachloride. The weight of the flask and the carbon tetracholoride is found to be 703.55 g. Calculate the density in g/mL.
2) What is the density in g/mL if 9.00 L of gasoline has a mass of 6.12 kg?
3) What volume of water, in cL, would be dispaced by a rock wiht a density of 4.85 g/cm3 and a mass of 0.109 kg?
4)What is the density in g/cm3 of a rectangular piece of ivory that measures 0.23 m by 0.15 m by 0.155 and has a mass of 10.222kg (Hint: change all of the meters to centimeteres first!)
5)Find the mass, in cg, of 0.250 L of a liquid that has a mass of 0.788 g/mL.
6)Find the mass, in grams, of 0.250L of benzene (a liquid solvent). The density of benzene is .90 g/mL.
THANKS AGAIN!!!<33
Favorite Answer
1) d = (703.55g-345.8g)/(225mL)
2) d= (6.12g)/(9L) * (1 L)/(1000mL)
and so on…
703.55-345.8= 357.75g
You then divide the mass by volume
357.75/225=1.403 g/mL
2.You convert liters into mililiters and kilograms into grams
9.00/1000=.009 mL 6.12/1000=.00612g
Then divide mass by volume again
.009/.00612=1.47g/mL
3. You find the volume of the rock by using the density formula: D=m/v
And I’m getting tired of solving these so I’ll let you do the rest lol.
All you have to worry about is converting them into the right measurements so that you can plug them into the formula
1 is easy. Subtract the mass of the flask from the total mass and divide by 225 mL.
2. convert kilograms to grams and divide by liters.
3. convert kg to g. ?cl = 4.85 g/cm^3 x 1cm^3/(x)g = answer
4. convert m to cm, multiply the dimensions and divide by grams (after converting kg to g)
5. convert .250L to mL, multiply g/ml by whatever you got, and then convert the result to centigrams
6. convert Liters to mL and multiply.
